City Harvest drivers keep our vans rolling and London fed, they are the grafters in our last-mile efforts to rescue food, people, and planet. We are grateful for our team of dedicated drivers who help to Rescue Someone’s Christmas, and every other day of the year.
Solomon Abraha has been driving for City Harvest for just 6 months and has already made a huge impact on City Harvest’s London community. His sunny demeanour and ‘can-do’ attitude make him a hit with our partner charities as he takes challenges in his stride.
Bringing the Eritrean sun to London, Solomon is never without a smile on his face.
Generally, Solomon delivers to charities and communities across west London, but has been to almost all our charity recipients, when coveringfor other drivers, as well as to familiarise himself with our entire London community.
Solomon collects surplus food from Kew Green Prep School’s Harvest Festival celebration.
What is your favourite thing about the job?
“Interaction with people, and seeing all the volunteers on both sides working very hard to help those in need. I love to see the all the recipients left feeling grateful and happy after receiving City Harvest food- it brings me great joy!”
Tell us about a moment that has moved you whilst delivering to surplus food recipients
“The volunteers passionately working to help others and the recipients coming. They often express their gratitude by thanking me personallyfor bringing the food which they desperately need. I often get emotional and feel moved by this.”
What does City Harvest mean to you?
“City Harvest means a lot to me because I feel passionately about what we do- rescuing food, people, and planet. I am very proud to be part of it.”
“Of course, Christmas is a special occasion, and helpingsomeone during this period, and throughout the year, gives me tremendous joyand I am very proud of the job we do collectively for our London community.”

This Harvest Festival (Oct 2021), Solomon played an integral part in collecting food collected by schools within our London community.
