Throw It... In the Pan

City Harvest's new Zero-Waste, Seasonal Cooking Classes in partnership with Mercato Metropolitano

Mercato Metropolitano’s Italian food movement is the perfect partnership for City Harvest’s new engagement programme. A mutual love of food, education and helping support the community is at the very core of this campaign. Throw It… in the Pan, educates people how to avoid food waste, transform their leftovers and eat seasonally.

Each ticket raises money for City Harvest to provide 120 meals

for those who do not have access to food in London this Christmas.

City Harvest’s main principles: Everybody has an absolute right to food, nutrition, community support and education.

“Mercato Metropolitano’s sustainability, community and education ethos, perfectly complements our own, this is a very special partnership. The classes will start at the Elephant & Castle location in the community kitchen, supervised by Executive chef Gabriele Bagni. You are not just learning how to cook, but how to live and how to eat.” City Harvest.

Snapshot of London's food poverty situation

There is more than enough food to feed London, yet over 9 million meals are missed a month and over 13 million meals are wasted. It's bonkers.

City Harvest provides a free surplus food collection and delivery service. Many companies pay to dispose of food, creating unnecessary greenhouse gases. As a business, there is no logical reason to throw good food away. All you have to do is call City Harvest and we will collect for free.

What better way to fundraise than offering fun and life changing cooking classes for people who love food, to help those that don't have enough to eat.

Next Class Date TBC

Bring your own food container to take away anything you don’t manage to eat.
